Dr Angela Davies is an associate professor in textile and garment technology (in knowledge exchange) and is programme leader for MSc Sustainable Textile Technologies. She has a BSc (Hons) in Clothing Design and Production and a PhD in technical textiles. Her PhD focused on the development of reusable incontinence products for residential and hospital use, which provides her with a wealth of expertise in the development of medical textiles, requiring high temperature laundering for infection control.

As a core member of Textile Engineering and Materials research group (TEAM) Angela has a background in textile material performance and biodegradation. 

Dr Davies has been principal investigator on a range of funded projects including AHRC Design Exchange projects focused on textile end-of-life management working with farming communities (arable and livestock) exploring textile component interaction and material breakdown within various degradation environments. 

Dr Davies has worked on multiple knowledge exchange consultancy projects with a range of UK businesses centred around sustainable textile innovation and new product development. She has significant experience working with textile materials establishing performance parameters and fibre interaction on material properties.

Angela has worked extensively with UK and European businesses from start-ups to larger enterprises, schools and communities and public service engagement (emergency services) on numerous research and consultancy projects (including EMDA, ESF, CRAFT, FP7, ERDF, Innovate UK and AHRC)

Her research interests include product performance and quality control (testing and safety), sustainable textile development, medical and healthcare textiles, technical textiles, performance textiles, wearable technologies, product development for durability and longevity, textile end of life management (biodegradation and composting)​.

Quality by Design (QbD), ERDF emda funded project,  Principal investigator within Pharmaceutical Technologies. This project aimed at increasing regional awareness of the QbD agenda and supporting businesses to prepare for the implementation of QbD principles and approaches.
