Personal profile

Sam is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Lead with specialist expertise in dysphagia, adult neurology, acquired brain injury, trauma, and critical care. She leads the postgraduate module Intermediate Dysphagia, supporting qualified SLTs to develop advanced knowledge and clinical decision-making skills in the assessment and management of swallowing disorders.

Her teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with a particular focus on evidence-based practice, neurological rehabilitation, and person-centred care. Samantha is passionate about preparing students and clinicians to meet the complex needs of individuals with communication and swallowing difficulties.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Samantha serves as Deputy Chair of the Programme Management Board, contributing to curriculum development, quality enhancement, and programme leadership. She works closely with students, colleagues, and clinical partners to ensure an excellent learning experience and that programmes remain responsive to contemporary healthcare practice.
